Gov. Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has asked security agencies to probe the disappearance of five youths in the popular Railway town of Kafanchan town in Jema’a LGA.
The disappearance of the youths was reported by the security agencies on Friday.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, said the governor appealed to the affected families to remain calm.
Aruwan also said El-Rufai condemned the killings of some citizens in Zangon Kataf, Igabi and Chikun Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
“Security Agencies had previously reported killings of citizens in Kibori, Katsit and Afana in Zangon Kataf Local Government Areas (LGA), and Amana Kasuwa of Igabi LGA.
”This is before reporting the killing of nine persons on Friday 9th July, at Warkan village of Zangon Kataf LGA, and one person at Kakkau area of Chikun LGA.
“The Governor expresses condolences with the families that lost their loved ones and wished the citizens who sustained injuries, speedy recovery,” said Aruwan in the statement.
He said that the governor also directed the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency to urgently assess damages at Warkan village and provide relief materials to the affected citizens.
According to him, the governor has been receiving hourly briefings on the attack at Warkan village in Zangon Kataf LGA, as well as the general security situation in the State.
The Commissioner said the Governor on Thursday and Friday, discussed with the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, and the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali on security situation in the state.
