Afenifere chieftain, Ayo Adebanjo describes Igboho attempted arrest as a provocation to the Yorubas.

Buhari is a dictator and an imperialist.

Boko Haram, Miyetti Allah killer herdsmen and bandits move around freely unarrested.

Elder statesman and Afenifere chieftain, Ayo Adebanjo, has looked straight into the eyes of the Buhari government and declared it sore afraid of perceived oppositions.

Pa Adebanjo reacting to violent attempts by the Nigerian Fulani led Government to arrest Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo (Sunday Igboho) on the Lagos –Ibadan Express road while on his way to attend a meeting with Yoruba Elders led by Adebanjo as an irresponsible provocation on the Yoruba race.

Adebanjo accused the government of going after citizens agitating for a better country while ignoring bandits, terrorists and kidnappers who are unleashing terror on innocent Nigerians.

“That's the kind of situation we are in, does it mean the man can't move again? They should have allowed him to get here and arrest all of us, make a demonstration to the whole world that this is the kind of situation we are in. Boko Haram terrorists are around, Miyetti Allah cattle breeders are around, recognised, abducting, killing and all that, they left them alone but the citizen who is crying and struggling is getting arrested.

“The complainant is now the accused. That's (Muhammadu) Buhari’s administration for you. God will save us from him. I was expecting them to arrest him here, they shouldn't have stopped him, they should have allowed him to get here and then they arrest all of us here.”

Pa Adebanjo said, “I have been receiving calls from people that I will be arrested but I have not seen them, I'm only hearing it.”

He said the security operatives could have allowed Igboho get to the venue of the meeting so that all the Yoruba leaders (including Adebanjo himself) meant to be present at the meeting will be arrested.

Igboho has been in the news since he gave Fulani herdsmen in Ibarapa area of Oyo State seven days to vacate the area in January.

The youth leader had blamed the leadership of the Fulani for being behind the rising insecurity in the state.

Adebanjo therefore condemned in its entirety the violent attempt by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and Department of State Services to arrest Yoruba A team of policemen, soldiers and DSS officers were said to have attempted to arrest Igboho, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Friday.

The security operatives, however, failed in their violent attempt to arrest Igboho as perceive youths resisted the attempt.

Pa Ayo Adebanjo on Friday evening confirmed that Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho visited him in his house in Lagos.

He also condemned attempt by a joint team of soldiers, DSS and policemen to arrest Igboho while on his way to his house.

After the attempted arrest, Igboho still made his way to Adebanjo’s house.

Adebanjo said on phone around 7:40pm that “Sunday Igboho just left my house.”

But he did not disclose what he discussed with him during the visit to his house.

The elder statesman reiterated that attempt to arrest Igboho by the Federal Government was unfortunate and uncalled for.

He lamented that bandits were killing and kidnapping people in the north and they have not been arrested, while Igboho was being hunted.

Adebanjo described President Muhammadu Buhari as a dictator and an imperialist, saying only God would deliver Nigeria out of his hand.

He also lamented that Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, despite his debilitating utterances had not been arrested by the Buhari’s government.

Adebanjo said comments made by Gumi that bandits were not criminals and that they should be given amnesty was unjust.

He also attacked Gumi for saying that Christian soldiers were the ones killing Fulani herdsmen and bandits.

Adebanjo added that in 2018 when the Governor of Benue, Samuel Ortom wrote to Buhari about the killings of his people by Fulani herdsmen, the president did nothing about it, even when the Fulani boasted that owned every parts of Nigeria.
