African Union Commissioners’ list, Bankole Adeoye of Nigeria joins the team.

Patmos Media Line Correspondent has sent in the list of new Commissioners of the African Union Commission.

The AU started a virtual meeting in Addis Abba, Ethiopia on Saturday and the list started filtering in late on Saturday night.

1. Chairperson - Moussa Faki Mahamat - incumbent reelected (Chad- Central Region)

2. Deputy Chairperson of the Commission – Dr. Monique Nsanzabaganwa (Rwanda - Eastern Region)


1. Agriculture, Rural Development - Josefa Leonel Coreeia Sacko (Angola - Southern region) re-elected incumbent

2. Economic Development, Trade and Industry - Albert Muchanga- (Zambia - Southern Region) re-elected incumbent.

3. Education, Science and Technology. Elections suspended as both candidates were from the Southern Region (South Africa and Zimbabwe) since the Region already got 1 and 2. New elections with new candidates to be done during the 39th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council in June, 2021. The incumbent will continue until elections are held.

4. Infrastructure and Energy - candidature from Zimbabwe eliminated since Southern Region already won 1 and 2. The incumbent, Amani About Zeid from (Egypt re-elected).

5. Political Affairs, Peace and Security. Candidate from South Africa eliminated since the Region ready won 1 and 2. The candidate from Nigeria, Ambassador Bankole Adeoye elected.

6. Social Affairs, Health. Candidate from the Northern Region- Mauritania eliminated since the Region already won Infrastructure and Energy, Female. The incumbent Commissioner will continue until elections are held during the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly.
