Aftermath of bandit affliction: Katsina State closes down all schools with Boarding facilities.

Following the unprecedented embarrassment of bandits striking while the nation’s President was visiting his home town, the Katsina State Government has Saturday ordered the immediate closure of all Boarding Schools.

Katsina State has ordered the immediate closure of all boarding secondary schools in the state. The directive from Governor Aminu Bello Masari follows the abduction of an unspecified number of students of the Government Science Secondary School Kankara by bandits at about 10:30 pm of Friday.

Governor Masari spoke on Saturday morning when he visited the state school at Kankara.

A source in the state said that the Governor had urgent meeting with the school officials, parents, traditional and religious leaders as well as security officials.

The governor pleaded with the people to be patient, assuring them that the government would do every necessary thing to ensure the release of all the abducted students.

Patmos Media Line reported that Air Force Officers, Army and local vigilantes with fighter jets Saturday morning started combing the Katsina forest looking for abducted children an exercise that was not done to rescue the Chibok girls.

In the case of the Chibok girls, they were reported to have been kept in a private house before they were moved to the Boko Haram enclave of Sambisa forest.
