Buhari sweeps away the NWC of his party APC - appoints Yobe State Governor as Caretaker Chairman.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dissolved its National Working Committee (NWC) and named Yobe Governor, Mai-Mala Buni, Chairman caretaker/extra-ordinary convention committee.

The National Executive Council (NEC) meeting which held at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja also decided that the Buni committee will organize a Convention soon.

Mai-Mala Buni was immediately sworn in by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

The NEC meeting which was attended by President Muhammadu Buhari and his vice, Prof. Yemi Osibajo did not have in attendance the party’s leader bola Ahmed Tinubu and other NWC members.

The NWC members had written the President that he was ill advised as the man parading himself as the acting National Chairman had resigned and also been suspended by his constituency and therefore could not have called for a NEC meeting.

The NEC meeting directed all members to withdraw all court cases and ratified the candidature of the Edo State gubernatorial candidate, Osagie Eze-Iyamu for the September elections in Edo State

The meeting did not name any reconciliation committee meaning that the Adams Oshiomhole group in the NWC has been swept away in a jiffy.

Earlier on Thursday, the Police had invaded the national Secretariat disallowing other NWC officials as well as the staff from entering the premises.
