Text: Ps. 22: 1-14.

Monday morning in Nigeria is considered a day or moment for serious business. Even the easy virtue prone Lagos does not condone nonsense. (Lojo Monday, Eko o ni gba igbakugba). I had slated some good time for personal prayers when my Pastor son in the Lord called to say he was vexed in his spirit, angry and dehumanized. He slammed me with grammar.

Bashan was a district east of Jordan where the largest and fattest cattle are raised.

Bulls are emblems of brutal strength. They symbolize the headstrong rulers of Israel who are determined to attack leaders of the people with absolute brutality through extermination. They fight very rough both in the spirit and in the physical.

The bulls are oppressors who rely on their power through their office.

David knew what power meant whether spiritual, physical to kill foxes and lions. David had great skills with weapons of warfare. He knew the intrigues of government power and politics. He is not like many lily-livered men of this age that carry the title of General. David rejected conventional weapons like spear and shield and chose catapault. His sensory ability was super as he could decipher the powers and strength of animals and people. He is a General of Generals in the height of military terminology.

David with all his experience and prowress said many bulls of Bashan have surrounded me. How many bulls harass us today? Bulls are never friendly but resolute enemies. They are not like pussy cats that you stroke their furs while watching telly. Bulls should be killed at sight. It is not every enemy you capture like King Agag.

Bulls were brutal animals with wild strength that had good population in Bashan. They stampede their victims with their hooves till blood comes out using their strong horns as compliments of war instruments until life is taken out of their victims.

Ps 22:12-13. 12 “Many bulls have surrounded Me; Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled Me. 13 They gape at Me with their mouths, Like a raging and roaring lion”. NKJV.

David said those words when his adversaries were about to snuff life out of him.

Let us examine notable issues with Bulls.

1. Who are these bulls?

A. Satan and his Satanic agents e.g witches and wizards, Cultists. Remember what Satan did to Job?

B. Political or official leaders’ e.g Herod who killed many children. Emperor Jean Bokosa of the Central African Republic who ordered the killing of school children who refused to acknowledge him as leader. Those whose body language encourage and embolden killers. That senior officer who vows no promotion for you except you grace his bed.

C. Warlords who enjoy the maiming and killing of innocent citizens e.g. Charles Taylor, the Boko Haram guys who slaughter humans like goats and still circulate videos. That means they are sadists.

D. Casual threats. E.g. Armed robbers, bandits. Kidnappers, rapists.

E. Government or organizations that issue unrighteous decrees or Executive Orders or policies to deprive you of your fundamental rights like security, food, electricity, good roads with heavy tax.

F. Your flesh. Paul said, woe is me, who can deliver me from this arm of flesh? It sends you to your early grave through terrible habits like eating, smoking, speed driving, alcohol and sexual escapades.

2. What did God say about Bulls?

A. 1 John 4:4-5. “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. NIV.

B. Eccl 6:10. “Whatever exists has already been named, and what man is has been known; no man can contend with one who is stronger than he. NIV. It shows that God is mightier than man and man cannot content with God. So you are more than conquerors.

C. Check the conditions to overcome the Bulls of your life in Deut. 11:1, 23.

3. What the Bulls shall do with you.

A. Cause you to fear. Ps 27:1-3; Ps. 23:4.

B. Trample on you till you are injured or killed. That is oppressive. Isa. 49:26.

C. Tear your members apart till it brings blood, sorrow and tears. That is affliction. 1Kgs. 22: 27, Acts 7: 34.

D. Damage, or destroy your person or destiny.

E. It will be difficult to contend with a bull because it has more physical strength than you. Deut. 11:23.

4. How to get a bull.

A. Avoid its path. Ps. 1:1.

B. Set snares or traps like digging a hidden trench.

C. Fight it physically by using guns or poisionous arrows. Mt. 11:12.

D. Set up serious warfare prayers with prophecies like Jezebel was dethroned. You may still pray with Isa. 49:24-26 to set the bulls against themselves.

Let’s get back to my son in the Lord issue.

His challenge was that his cousin had gone round his church members, family members etc to say damaging falsehood about him, backstabbing and name calling. The cause was that this cousin demanded two years ago, that my son should ask his church members to raise 1.5m Naira for his personal project and my son gave an iron wall NEVER. On Sunday, they sat before elders of their family to settle the matter but the cousin poked the fire the more insulting the elders there before a walkout.

As a man used to such acts even from the house of Faith where people say terrible things to bring down one another, I smiled over my son’s anger. He has run his ministry now 5years plus. Those ahead of me that I follow have been to the market place of life. I cited: “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed”. (2Cor. 4:8-9. KJV). Point to any of our Archbishops, Bishops, Apostles, and Senior Pastors etc who had never been to the other side of the hill.

I had my own share from here and there. My former Overseer told me that I have a habit of flowing with my enemies in our local church who come to him to say terrible but incorrect things about me. He never named them but he prayed for me. David said: “Even my best friend, the one I trusted completely, the one who shared my food, has turned against me”. (Ps 41:9. NLT)

We need to live a rugged life to survive this journey where natural and supernatural bobby traps are kept to swallow us. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world”. (1Pt. 5:8-9. KJV).

Friends, I took permission from my son to make this public because I have a feeling in my spirit that many people, not necessarily Pastors are going through same predicament.

It happened to Moses in Numbers Chapter 12 where the siblings of Moses, Prophetess Miriam and High Priest Aaron led a rebellion against Moses. The wonder was that Aaron, a senior brother later called Moses “my lord”. (V. 11). Let God fight for you in every instance. When God fights for you, it is you that will end up having compassion for these people. Apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesians: “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace”. (Eph. 4:1-3. NIV)

Finally, same Apostle Paul gave us the character of a new man: “Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful”. (Col 3:12-15. NKJV).

Thank you for the extra patience in reading my epistle. I pray that the word of God will work for you and I in the name of Jesus. Amen. If you are not a ‘born again’ Christian, the Word will not work for you because the Bible says the prayer of an unrighteous person is an abomination unto God, Call the number you will see and someone will discuss with you. My name is Eniola Olatunji. God bless you.
