As reported by Patmos media Line that a new paramount ruler for Kontagora Emirate may emerge within the next 48 hours from Sunday, the Emirate has announced Prince Muhammadu Barau Mu’azu as new ruler.
Muhammadu Barau Muazu, a successful businessman, is the grandson of Alhaji Muazu Ibrahim, who was the 5th Sarkin Sudan and reigned from 1961 to 1974.
His emergence followed the demise of Sarkin Sudan Saidu Namaska after 47 years on the throne (1974-2021).
Muhammadu Barau Muazu was selected as the 7th Sarkin Sudan by five kingmakers of the emirate.
The Kingmakers are Alh. Aminu Ahmed Bawa (Madawaki), Alh. Shehu Yusuf (Galadima), Alh. Yusuf Tanko Usman (Waziri), Alh Adamu Moh’d Kanta (Magayaki) and Alh. Abdulkadir Bashar (Kofa).
Patmos Media Line reported that 47 contestants gathered at the Emir’s palace from 9:00am of Sunday for the rigorous exercise to elect a new leader.
Niger State Police Command gave adequate security to the gathering where you could hardly swing a cat.
The next step is for the state government to give a nod and announce date for his coronation after he would have fulfilled the rite of pre installation process according to traditional rules.
