The prevailing pandemic disease, Coronavirus (COVID-19) has forced the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to postpone its Cup of Nations tournament CHAN scheduled for Cameroun 4th – 25th April, 2020.

The announcements for the postponement were made on the website of CAF on Tuesday.

Qualifying rounds were expected to have been concluded by 27th March for the tournament that is exclusive to players playing in their National leagues.

CAF Medical team was in Cameroun last month to inspect facilities especially the Coronavirus situation on precautionary measures taken so far.

The Cameroonian Government had expressed readiness to host Africa but CAF does not want to take any risk.

Cameroun recorded five cases of Coronavirus and with about 45 nations of Africa having cases going ahead will be risky, CAF said.

CAF added that the competition will be restored “as soon as condition permits”.
