The Chief of Defense Staff, General Lucky Irabor, on Thursday, met with retired military officers in the southwest zone in Ibadan, a bid to further address insecurity in the country.
The highest-ranking military officer of the Nigerian Armed Forces arrived at the Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment in Ibadan at about 9:00 AM from Abuja.
While addressing the over fifty retired senior military officers in the South West region at the conference room of the 2nd division of the Nigerian Army, Odogbo, Ibadan, General Irabor said the meeting became necessary to nip internal insecurity in the bud with the support of the retired patriots.
When grilled by newsmen on the allegation made a respected Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi that personnel of the Nigerian Army was conniving with bandits terrorizing the northern part of the country, the highest-ranking military officer of the Nigerian Armed Forces, General Irabor, said it is not possible to conspire with someone that will take one's life.
In his address at the closed doors security meeting with the retired military officers in the southwest zone, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Gold Chibuisi, who doubles as the host Commanding Officer, charged the retired top officers to join hands with the state actors and together crush the enemies of the state.
General Lucky Irabor, is scheduled to meet with retired senior military officers in other zones of the country and thereafter review the rule of engagement with terrorists and bandits.
