A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the immediate release of the deposed Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi from his purported isolated confinement or detention.
Justice Anwuli Chikere gave the order on Friday after listening to the motion ex parte moved by Sanusi’s lead Lawyer, Chief Lateef Fagbemi.
The order directed at all the respondents in the case over the deprivation of Sanusi’s human rights states: “An interim order of this honorable court releasing the applicant from the detention and or confinement of the respondents and restoring the applicants rights to human dignity, personal liberty, freedom of association and movement in Nigeria (apart from Kano State) pending the hearing and determinations of the applicants originating summons”.
Justice Chikere also granted that the applicant leave to serve a copy of the release order and the processes in relation to the substantive suit on the respondents through substituted means. That means through any officer working in their office.
Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
The implication of this order is that Emir Sanusi will not spend tonight at his Awe, Nasarawa bunk or may not need the Lafia renovated house offer of the Nasarawa State Governor as he is free to go anywhere in Nigeria except Kano State.
Patmos Media Line had reported exclusively that Emir Sanusi protested vehemently when he made a sudden appearance at the Nasarawa State Governor’s office on Tuesday, a day after staying at his less fancied Loko bunk, using unprintable words in Hausa language for which Governor Sule kept replying, “Ya ankuri your royal highness meaning take it easy your royal highness".
He was transferred to Awe where the Governor and some of his family members visited him under strict security surveillance.
ElRufai and Sanusi -two jolly fellows.
Kaduna State Governor, Nasir ElRufai kept telling the world that he would visit the Emir at his two bedroom Awe bunk. ElRufai had offered Sanusi two vital appointments within a week which is that of the Kaduna Investments and Development Board and the Chancellor of the Kaduna State University. Sanusi is now free to stay in any of the executive guest’s chalets of the Government House.
