Court orders immediate discharge of Nigerian Shiites leader, El- Zakzaky & his wife, Zeenat Ibrahim.

The Kaduna State High Court on Wednesday discharged and acquitted the Sheikh Ibraheem El- Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), and his wife identified as Zeenat Ibrahim after four years of standing in Court trial culpable homicide.

Justice Gideon Kurada declared that the prosecution against the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibraheem El- Zakzaky, and his wife, Zeenat Ibrahim were not shown and proven in the court.

Sheikh Ibraheem El- Zakzaky and his wife identified as Zeenat Ibrahim pleaded not guilty to the charges against them which include unlawful assembly, culpable homicide, disruption of the public peace, and others.

Sheikh Ibraheem El- Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), and his wife identified as Zeenat Ibrahim have been in detention since 2015 when the Islamic Movement in Nigeria clashed with Nigerian troops in Kaduna State.

Their Lawyer, Femi Falana had consistently pleaded their innocence in court and alleged they were deprived of their fundamental human right by the Nigerian government.

Members of the IMN had staged several protests at the nation’s capital and a few people had died in the process.
