Despite the closure of two major highways and most roads, Buhari hopped around Kano in chopper.

Despite security plans for ease of movement for President Muhammadu Buhari in his visit to Kano on Thursday that necessitated closure of major highways to humans and cows as reported by Patmos Media Line on Wednesday, Mr. President we report had to use Presidential chopper to hop around Kano.

Kano state police had warned of the closure the major Highways especially between 1300-1800 hours of Thursday and categorically told herders to go off duty and not stroll down the roads with their cows.

Although the President was using a chopper to move round Kano, most roads were completely blocked with heavy security presence.

There was a mild drama between overzealous presidential security aides and journalists as all media outfits were barred from accessing the venue of the Kano/Kaduna rail flag off program.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to flag off the Kano/Kaduna rail project, to commission Dangi Interchange under Bridge road and visit the Emir’s Palace, plunged the ancient city into heavy traffic.

However, journalists who were earlier at the first venue of Buhari’s place of calls, Zuwaciki, where he will flag off the rail projects were turned back by the Presidential aides who insisted that the media must have identified tags before they have access to the place.

The journalists, who came along with the Government House Crew, were rejected by the security aides.

However, so many other persons who were not wearing tags including some local traditional rulers were allowed into the venue while the journalists, with official identity cards and press vehicles were not allowed access.

President Muhammadu Buhari same Thursday commissioned the multi-billion naira Zobe dam water project and the 50-kilometre Dutsinma-Tsaskiya Road.



The Zobe Dam and Dutsinma-Tsaskiya Road projects, both located in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State were executed by the Federal Government and the Katsina State Government respectively.

The multi-billion naira Zobe Dam Water Project was started in 1980 by the Second Republic administration of President Shehu Shagari, but was only recently completed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The 50-kilometre Dutsinma to Tsaskiya Road was constructed in 2017 by the incumbent APC administration, under the leadership of Governor Aminu Bello Masari.

Speaking during the commissioning of the multi-billion Naira Zobe Dam project, Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina said that the water treatment plant project was jointly financed by the Katsina State government in collaboration with the Federal government for about N21 billion.

Masari further said with the commissioning of the project Dutsinma town, Kurfi and Katsina city will now have a sigh of relief and the issue of scarcity of water in Katsina will be a thing of the past.

He urged people to safeguard the pipeline that passes through their areas to avoid vandalization.

Meanwhile, President Buhari has flown to his home town Daura after the ceremony for Eid-el Kabir celebrations.
