The Department of State Services on Saturday night confirmed that Salihu Tanko Yakasai is in its custody.
DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, disclosed this in a statement.
He was arrested on Saturday after demanding Buhari’s resignation over the failure of his government to arrest widespread abductions in the country.
The same Afunaya had smiled over earlier report of his arrest published by Patmos Media Line where he denied arresting a friend of the house who Afunanya alleged always give them professional gist.
Salihu’s father, a notable politician himself said earlier on Saturday that his son was arrested on his way to the salon.
Observers quickly saw the trend of denial of arrests or attempted arrests as a dangerous trend as they also alleged security outfits may eliminate such arrested persons if good noise is not made.
A Yoruba Activist, Sunday Igboho was accosted by combined forces of DSS and Police men from Oyo State command on the Lagos –Ibadan Express road on Thursday seen in viral video where they were resisted by some youths alleged to be OPC youths.
Both the police and the DSS denied any involvement.
Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose had warned the federal government of the implication of arresting Tanko Yakasai saying that it shows Buhari is intolerant to opposing comments and is now despotic.
Salihu had said Buhari, a former military General was incompetent to rule and should resign because of the increasing rate of security in the country
Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Dangoje has sacked Salihu as his Special Assistant (Media) on Saturday saying the criticism of Buhari is not tolerated by him.
He had first sacked Salihu at the peak of #EndSARS protests but called him back later.
