European champions, Liverpool Football Club of England was given a shock treatment by lowly rated Watford Football Club that drubbed them 3-0 in an English Premiership league match Saturday night. Liverpool are current EUFA champions.

Ismaila Saar got a brace in the 54th and 60th minute before Captain Troy Deeney topped it up to three goals in the 72nd minute to make the English league leaders, Liverpool look ordinary on a night that could pass for their worst performance ever in the current season.

The Watford victory was their second ever victory over Liverpool in twelve meetings where Liverpool had 9 wins and there was a draw but this poetic TWELFTH NIGHT prose was well written in Watford’s favor. Not even the magic booths of African duo, Mo Sallah and Sadio Mane could save the night for Liverpool fans that walked alone home to their families on a very cold night.

The loss did not however affect Liverpool who are standing top of the league with 79 points which is 20 points ahead of nearest contenders, Manchester City, Watford would have jumped to the 16th position if not for the West Ham 3-1 victory over Southampton earlier in the day but they are in 17th position with same 27 points with West Ham.

The 44 unbeaten run of Liverpool was stopped by Watford and Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp said, “we never thought of defeat, when you win nobody talks and when you lose nobody should talk” but elated Watford coach, Nigel Pearson said, “ we deserve the win, we defended with a lot of discipline and fought hard in front of goal”.

The Liverpool FC had planned to start their league victory party on Saturday night but the eventual victory will certainly not be a gleeful one with this loss.
