Patmos Media Line can authoritatively tell the world that the Chief Commander of Juju Music, Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi is very much alive and at ease in his Ikeja residence in Lagos as at 1730 hours of Saturday 4th July 2020.
The truth was that Chief Fabiyi was never in London as claimed by the crier from London who raised the alarm. He has been at his country home in Abeokuta, Ogun State and not in any hospital for that matter for about ten days relaxing and only returned to Lagos last Thursday.
When Patmos Media Line disturbed by enquiries contacted his Lagos home, our Chief Executive, Rev. Eniola Olatunji was told by his General Manager, Ebenezer Obey Music Company, Mr. Tunji Odumbaku that “Baba is right here in his house relaxing, no problem as he is laughing over the rumor”. Mr. Odumbaku is not only his staff but a close associate of the music legend.
He Said, “My brother, Rev how can somebody who did not get out of his country in Nigeria die in London?” That was in the conversation that ended at 1730 hours Nigerian time.
Music followers will know that Chief Ebenezer Obey an Egba man from Abeokuta has been a victim of several rumors in his musical career. It was a time they rumored that he did a ritual for money and that was why he nursed a protruding belly and he sang the famous song, “ko si lukudi rara o, ba bu lukudi” ( there is no ritual called Lukudi)
The family of Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, has also debunked claims that the jùjú musician is dead.
As said, the music legend, nicknamed Chief Commander is hale and hearty contrary to claims making rounds on social media.
His son, Lanre Obey-Fabiyi, confirmed that news on the alleged death of his father were false and urged Nigerians to disregard the news.
Chief Obey, a Reverend and general Overseer of his church based in Lagos, had since stopped waxing social music that made him popular and declared publicly that he will sing for Christ till he dies but the music icon still has a very large followership who trail wherever he is going to sing with his band boys who are still intact.
Chief Obey runs a music academy in Lagos where musicians, audio Engineers are being trained and mentored.
