Flying Eagles bow to Starlets of Ghana 1-0 in WAFU duel.

Ghana Wednesday evening spanked Nigeria’s U20 Flying Eagles 1-0 in a crucial Group B of the WAFU under 20 tournament for West African countries.

Nigeria scored twice in the first half at 13th minute and 43rd minute but were disallowed.

As if Nigeria was jinxed, the lone strike winner was scored in the 83rd minute to give Ghana an advantage for the Semis provided they can defeat Ivory Coast.

The equalizer against Ivory Coast in their last match was scored in the 85th minute and Trainer Bosco said his team simply lost concentration.

Although Ghana Black Starlets were very rough until a 90th minute red card was flashed, the stadium was turned to a celebration ground when words filtered in that their incumbent Governor Nana Akufo Ado was returned as President.

The fate of the noisy Flying Eagles handled by Ladan Bossco now depends on the match between Ivory Coast and Ghana scheduled for Tuesday in Porto Novo Republic of Benin where the tournament is taking place.

Only three teams are in this group and Nigeria dropped their guard in the last moment for a 1-1 draw.

Nigeria will not be playing on Tuesday but will be praying hard for Ghana to beat Ivory Coast by wide margin.

Incidentally it is the first win for Ghana U20 in the last head to head encounter as Ghana lost 2-4 on the 18th of December 2012 and again lost in 2015 0-2 in the CAF African Youth Championship.

A peep into the records shows that Nigeria U20has never won an away match in their last 7 games. For example their last three matches away shows goalless with Mali on 24/08/19; 2-2 with Morocco on 24/08/19 and their last one with Ivory Coast 1-1 in Porto Novo last Sunday.
