The Flying Eagles walk on a tight rope to qualify for the semifinal of the Zone B U20 WAFU cup as they wait on the match between Ivory Coast and last years’ runners-up Ghana at the Stade De Gaules in Porto Novo on Tuesday.
The Group A of the Zone was a photo finish on Friday as no clear Group leader emerged after hostilities.
Hosts Benin Republic lost their second match to Niger Republic 0-1 while Togo and Burkina Faso played 1-1.
In the group first encounters Benin lost 0-1 to Burkina Faso while Niger played 1-1 with Togo.
In the group A, Niger had 4 points from a win and a draw just like Burkina Faso which means a toss of the coin might decide the group leader.
In group B, Nigeria was forced to a 1-1 draw by Ivory Coast in the first match while Ghana waited because only three teams reported in the group.
Nigeria bowed 0-1 to Ghana in the second match while Ivory Coast waited in the wings.
Nigerians will pray hard for Ghana to whip Ivory Coast with two unreplied goals before they can appear in the Semis. As it is now, Niger, Burkina Faso and Ghana have qualified for the semis.
The finals was interesting last year as Senegal defeated Ghana 3-1 on penalty shoot outs after the match ended 1-1 at 120 minutes.
Yussouph Badji had scored at 107 minute for Senegal before Joseph Esso equalized two minutes later.
