Former Imo State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha arrested in Owerri, to be arraigned on Monday.

Some operatives of the Imo state police, Owerri on Sunday arrested a former Governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha for unsealing Spring Palm Estate belonging to his wife, Nkechi.

Okorocha was arrested along with Ijeoma Igboanusi and Lasbrey Okafor-Anyanwu.

Igboanusi was the Deputy Chief of Staff (Domestics) while Okafor-Anyanwu was the Commissioner for Transportation in Okorocha’s government.

The ex-governor who now represents Imo West at the Senate had gone to the estate with his supporters, policemen, soldiers and personnel of National Security and Civil Defense Corps and ordered the unsealing of the estate.

Government officials too mobilized to the estate, leading to a free-for-all pandemonium as many were reportedly injured while some cars were damaged.

‌A police source who confided in our correspondent said that the former governor had been arrested.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, who confirmed Okorocha’s arrest, said he will be arraigned tomorrow (Monday).

Emelumba did not however state what Okorocha was arrested for.

Senator Okorocha and the sitting Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma had been at logger heads on several issues since the coming of Uzodinma.

Rochas Okorocha, on Sunday alleged that the governor of the State, Hope Uzodinma, attacked him with “more than 1000 thugs”.
