Hoodlums in gunshot spree at Aguda area of Surulere Lagos, Police avoid the area.

Reports from Aguda area of Surulere in Lagos on Thursday says there is still tension and morbid fear from residents in the area following sporadic gunshots that rocked the area on Wednesday when business owners quickly closed their shops and fled.

Some streets in the area had been deserted as suspected cultists, armed with locally made guns, stormed Cassette Bus Stop, Aguda, shooting sporadically to announce their presence.

A witness who craved anonymity said that he and others hid somewhere and could see the hoodlums parading the area with guns.

The hoodlums were said to be preparing to engage a rival group in gun-battle in the area.

“We saw more than ten of the hoodlums gathering on Willy Omiyi Street, off Cassette Bus Stop. I also noticed that they kept the locally made guns at open space that supposed to be a car park acquired by a Catholic church in the area”, the witness said.

“We are yet to see RRS men in the affected parts of Aguda,” he added.

Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Muyiwa Adejobi could not be reached as calls made to his phone were not picked.
