Imasuagbon and other candidates step down for Obaseki for the September Edo polls.

Embattled Edo Governor, Godwin Obaseki has emerged sole Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, aspirant in Edo state.

His closest rival, Mr. Kenneth Imasuagbon who had vowed never to step down, was the last of the aspirants competing for the governorship ticket to have withdrawn before the election was scheduled to start at Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City..

The development has paved the way for the PDP to adopt the consensus mode of primary to endorse Obaseki as its flag bearer for the September 19, 2020

Incumbent Governor Obaseki was estranged from his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) as he was alleged to have been dribbled out by his former political soul mate, Adams Oshiomhole.

It took the PDP Governors to lobby for him to have a waiver as they postponed their elections twice for the internal PDP storm to settle.
