Over 1.4 million candidates will sit for the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) mock exams throughout Nigeria on Tuesday, 18th February in preparation for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Exams (UTME).

A statement from the JAMB Headquarters in Abuja Monday said the Mock exams are free for all candidates taking it at JAMB owned Computer-Based Tests (CBT) centres but candidates should pay a paltry six hundred Naira at centres not owned by Jamb.

JAMB also said though the exams are optional for candidates but those interested should print their exam slips for the mock exams from their portal. A total of 1,434,632 are to write the exams.

JAMB stated emphatically that “results from Mock exams will not be added or have any effect on the main exam” as it is only meant to let candidates familiarize themselves with the exam writing procedures.

The Exam body warned Licensed CBT centers not to act contrary to their terms of engagement and to avoid defrauding or extorting candidates.

It alleged that some CBT Centers are sending away candidates for not obtaining the required e-pin from them adding that JAMB will not hesitate to sanction erring centers.

The exam moderating body had gone tough on students cheating at exams centers handing them over to the Police. It has shut down some CBT centers that has compromised on exam procedures.
