The commercial capital of Nigeria, Lagos State is in great panick over the discovery of the first Coronavirus patient in her midst forcing the State Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu, his Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi and the Federal Minister of Health Dr. Osagie Ehamire to hold several media briefings urging the Lagosians to calm down.
Reports from Lagos say citizens now use sanitizers, cover their noses and avoid giving hugs and kisses to lovers and associates. People are edgy about commuters who engage in prolong sneezes in public transport and shouts of “CORONAVIRUS’’ is everywhere.
The Chief Medical Director (CMD), of the Infectious Diseases Hospital, Yaba-Lagos, Dr. Bowale Abimbola assured that the patient, an Italian citizen who works in Nigeria and returned from Milan, Italy to Lagos Nigeria on the 25th of February 2020 is stabilizing as at 1300 hours of Friday 28th February.
But Lagosians are worried silly that the man must have made contacts with people in the plane and at the Airport. A report said the man was confirmed by the virology Laboratory of the Lagos Teaching Hospital which is part of the laboratory network of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control adding that “he is clinically stable with no serious symptoms”.
Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehamire who broke the news late on Thursday night to the world said “we have already started working to identify all the contacts of the patient since he entered Nigeria urging all Nigerians to take care of their personal health and maintain hand and respiratorial hygiene to protect themselves and others, including their own families”.
Dr. Ehamire warned that “Citizens must not abuse social media and indulge in spreading misinformation that causes fear and panic” promising to keep “Nigerians updated on developments and initiate all measures required to prevent the spread of any outbreak in Nigeria”.
Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi told the Press that there is a manhunt for all the Italian man’s contacts adding that he came into Nogeria through Turkish Airlines on the 25th of February for a brief business visit, fell ill on the 26th and was transferred to the Lagos health facility for isolation and testing.
The Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tommy Coker disclosed that the Italian wentto Ewekoro in Ogun State for a consultancy job with a company but assured the Ewekoro community not to panick as the company has been quarantined.
Patmos Media Line however gathered that smart medical Doctors in Ewekoro where the Italian reported his sickness to suspected that a new arrival in the country will need further medical checks called Lagos and an ambulance was quickly dispatched to fetch him to Lagos where tests confirmed him positive.
A twist however came through an Uber Driver, Mr. Olugbenga Bodurin who drove him from the Airport. Bodunrin with telephone number 08136464040 had tweeted: “I had contact with Italian citizen the day before yesterday. Am an Uber Driver, I picked him at the Airport. We talked, gisted and laughed together. My name is Olugbenga Bodunrin.”

The Center for Disease Control in the United States has advised men to shave their beards and facial hair in an effort to combat Coronavirus. It warned that facial hair can interfere with face masks and respirators, which are being used to combat the global disease.
Coronavirus started from China where over 20,000 people have reportedly died of the virus and the Chinese Government is in Court to seek legal backing to kill over 250,000 other infect people lest the disease takes over the most populated country of the world.
Coronavirus has paralyzed global business as businessmen restrain from travelling. Saudi Arabia has suspended pilgrimage to the Holy Land and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games is under threat too.
