Nasarawa Police Command may dismiss four police officers for dereliction of duties.

The Nasarawa Police Command is setting up four police officers of its command for dereliction of duty.

According to the Command, the four policemen may be dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force for failing to stop the kidnap of Salisu Usman Maku, nephew of former Information Minister Labaran Maku.

The police officers, who were reportedly on duty near the kidnap scene on July 14, were accused of taking cover and hiding from the kidnappers.

It was further gathered that Salisu Usman Maku who was kidnapped alongside his wife, was later killed as was his younger sister Sa’adatu.

Nasarawa Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe who confirmed the arrest of the policemen, said;

“as a professional police officer, you don’t take cover and hide; you take cover and act, it is only the driver of the police hilux that is set free because his job is to drive the vehicle and he was actually in the car during the operation, but the other four armed police officers took cover and hid.”

The incident Patmos Media Line had reported was about 200 meters from the country home of the incumbent Governor, Engr Sule but the Kidnappers we reported then outsmarted the police men on duty around the area.

We also reported that as Usman was being buried, the Kidnappers killed his younger sister.
