Nigeria’s High Commission in London will from Wednesday 18th March suspend the processing of passports to Nigerians.
Counselor/Head of Chancery of the Commission, Mrs. Rose Yakowa-Okoh announced this in London Tuesday.
Mrs. Yakowa-Okoh explained that the action is a proactive measure to protect and limit exposure of both applicants and staff of the Mission to the COVID-19 outbreak which is in line with the health advisory issued by their hosts, United Kingdom.
She urged those who need to travel urgently and require the EMERGENCY TRAVEL CERTIFICATE (ETC) to contact the Immigration Section; Consular and Head of Chancery.
Patmos Media Line learnt the same thing applies in Canada.
Meanwhile the Federal Government has canceled all foreign trips of any Government official, none government official and academic institutions until further notice.
Secretary to the Federation, Mustapha Boss who announced this in Abuja said such trips include workshops, conferences, signing of Bilateral or multilateral agreements etc.
He said relevant federal agencies to checkmate noncompliance have been ordered to stop any move because of the pandemic Coronavirus.
