Nollywood Ace, Ayo Akinwale aka Sango will not go into the ground at Koso but Ibadan on November 20.

Veteran Nollywood icon and academic Guru, Professor Ayobami Akinwale is to be laid to rest in Ibadan, Oyo State Friday 20th November 2020 Patmos Media Line can reveal.

Sources closed to his family said the actor, Playwright and Director known as Sango will have a service at the Wesley Methodist Cathedral, Elekuro Ibadan on that Friday before his body will be lowered into the ground.

Prof Akinwale who is the Lay President of the Church will have a Service of Songs planned out at the same venue on Thursday 19th November.

It was not clear as at the time of going to the Press Thursday night whether a Commendation Service has been finalized for Thursday 19th November in Ilorin the Kwara State capital where Prof Akinwale is a Lecturer but we have in on authority that a Night of Tribute will hold in Ilorin on Wednesday 18th November.

Prof Ayo Akinwale died on 13th September at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital at age 69 as against 74 then reported by Patmos Media Line in error.

Ayo Akinwale is survived by his wife Toun, five children and many grandchildren.

Akinwale began his acting career in the 1970s featuring in television and drama productions. He won the Best Indigenous actor award at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards.

Born in Ibadan, he attended Methodist High School and the University of Ibadan before beginning academic work as a lecturer at the Polytechnic Ibadan.

He was the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Culture of University of Ilorin; former Head of Department of the Performing Arts and also the Chairman of Oyo State Council for Arts and Culture.

Akinwale also starred in several cultural festivals across Nigeria, a versatile producer, academician and play writer. He produced a ‘Sango’in 1997, Ladepo Omo Adanwo in 2005 and Iranse Aje in 2007. He was the pioneer board Chairman of Unilorin FM. Ayo Akinwale was a prominent News Caster on BCOS radio in the 80s.

He was a lovable, charming and caring fellow loved everywhere by colleagues and associates.
