Protests in Katsina over bandit acts. Buhari’s billboard burnt. ELRufai threaten to kill bandits.

Protesters went wild on Tuesday morning in Yantumaki town, Danmusa local government area of Katsina state of which President Buhari is from by state origin.

The protesters who were angry over incessant attacks from bandits burnt down a billboard bearing the picture of President Muhammadu Buhari and the logo of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

But as the protests were going on in Katsina over bandits, Governor Nasril ElRufai of Kaduna State turned a complete red eye, warning to instantly kill any bandit operating within his state.

The Katsina state government had entered a peace agreement with the gunmen. But despite the accord, communities in Katsina were still being attacked and residents killed.

On June 1, bandits shot dead the 60 year old district head of Yantumaki, Abu Atiku.

The gunmen also attacked some communities in Batsari LGA of the state, and killed the council’s APC chairman.

The protesters reportedly barricaded the Katsina/Kankara major highway and blocked the road leading to the town.

They were said to have been enraged and inspired to act by the kidnap of one Mansir Yusuf and his daughter by bandits around 1 am on Tuesday.

The Police in Katsina were still wondering what happened as no official statement has been offered on the protests.
