Members have called on the Federal Government to intervene and immediately halt the repatriation of the Almajiri children to their states of origin.

This formed part of the resolutions of the lawmakers during Tuesday’s plenary at the lower chamber of the National Assembly in Abuja.

She also expressed concern over the mode of transportation the children were subjected to.

The lawmaker described it as dehumanizing, stressing that the children were packed into a vehicle in the scorching sun.

Patmos Media Line reports that some of them are packed with animals or food items like pepper and their transporters declare them as food items toprying security agents.

The House also resolved to urge the Northern governors to ensure that the Almajiri children were captured in the Universal Basic and Technical Education System.

The house later adjourned sitting til Tuesday, May 19.
