Senate Chairman on Trade and Investments, Senator Rose Okoji Oko of the PDP is dead.

Born on September 27th 1956 she died at an undisclosed hospital with an undisclosed ailment in the United Kingdom Monday night.

Senate in session.

Her death brings to three the number of serving Senators of the 9th Assembly that died between December last year and now. First it was Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu from Enugu North who died last December; Senator Istifanus Longjan from Plateau North who died last month and now Senator Rose from Cross River North.

Her death reduces the number of women in the Red Chambers to seven having been eight when Senator Olujimi from Ekiti South joined them.

The late 63 year old Rose started her legislative career from the House of Representatives, the Green Chambers when she was elected the first female rep from her constituency, Yala/Ogoja Federal Constituency in the 7th Assembly.

That June 2011 she was appointed Deputy Chairman House Committee on Education as a PDP member.

The family is yet to announce her burial plans since her body has not been brought back to Nigeria.
