Two chronic Nigerian antagonists, Gowon and Soyinka reconcile.
Two chronic antagonists during the Military era of the 70s in Nigeria, former Head of State, General Yakubu Jack Gowon and literary giant, Prof. Oluwole Akinwande Soyinka are reported to have finally reconciled at 86 years.
Both clocked 86 this year but ‘peppered’ each other while Gowon was Head of State and ruling Nigeria from Dodan Barracks in Lagos.
Soyinka known as KONGI was 86 last Monday and his birthday made the chronic antagonists to give a memorable hug
Gowon jailed Soyinka 1967 – 69 for his pro-Biafra sympathies and actions.
Wole Soyinka wrote his travails during his incarceration under Gowon in a book, THE MAN DIED.
Life is like that! Forgiveness and Reconciliation!
Soyinka is reputed to have fought every military government in Nigeria to a standstill.
